CORRECTED-China's foreign ministry complains to Japan over former Taiwan president's trip
BEIJING, Sept 10 (Reuters) - China's foreign ministry on Wednesday said it has lodged solemn presentations with Japan over a report of former Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen visiting the country, urging Tokyo to properly handle relevant issues.
"China firmly opposes any 'Taiwan independence' separatists visiting countries that have established diplomatic relations with China under any pretext or in any capacity", Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian told a regular press conference.
Taiwanese media reported on Tuesday that Tsai is visiting Japan on a personal trip.
