White House says new CDC director to be named soon after Trump firing
WASHINGTON, Aug 28 (Reuters) - A replacement for Susan Monarez, who President Donald Trump fired as director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will be announced soon, the White House said on Thursday.
"The president has the authority to fire those who are not aligned with his mission," spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told reporters.
