
LONDON, Aug 26 (Reuters) - British 30-year government bond yields GB30YT=RR surged on Tuesday to their highest since April 9, as they tracked a rise in U.S. Treasuries after President Donald Trump said he was firing Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook.
Thirty-year gilt yields rose more than 8 basis points on the day to 5.634%, scraping past a previous peak set on August 19 and reaching a level last seen on April 9, when Trump shocked markets with his tariff plans.
Ten-year gilt yields GB10YT=RR rose 8 bps to 4.777% at 0712 GMT, their highest since May 22, while two-year gilt yields GB2YT=RR rose 6 bps on the day to hit 4.008%.
