- (The Insurer) - Emerald Bay Risk Solutions has appointed Matthew Moore as chief financial officer and Sarah Anyieth as chief operating officer as the Bain Capital Insurance-backed carrier accelerates the build-out of its collaborative underwriting platform.

In a statement to this publication, Emerald Bay CEO Tracey Sharis confirmed the addition of Moore and Anyieth to the company's leadership team.

“Their combined experience and leadership in finance, insurance and operations will be invaluable as we continue scaling Emerald Bay," Sharis said.

"They will serve as high-impact partners as we work with high-quality MGAs and reinsurers to blend innovative underwriting solutions with strategic capital use," she added.

Moore, a CPA, joins from Core Specialty where he served as CFO of insurance operations after senior finance posts including CFO at Progressive fleet and specialty programs and vice president of finance at Protective Insurance, later acquired by Progressive.

“Emerald Bay is uniquely positioned to capture opportunities amid the structural shifts impacting the insurance market,” Moore said. “I look forward to partnering with Tracey, Sarah and the rest of the team to advance our financial strategy, support sustainable, long-term growth and reinforce Emerald Bay’s trusted role in the specialty and program insurance sectors.”

Anyieth, also a CPA, was a managing director in Riveron’s business transformation practice and previously held leadership roles at EY and PwC advising insurance and financial services clients on digital transformation, audit and transaction initiatives.

“Emerald Bay has built a strong foundation rooted in data-driven collaboration,” she said. “I am excited to work alongside Tracey, Matt and the team to expand our operational capabilities, optimize our technology and strengthen our ability to deliver next-generation solutions that create long-term value for our partners.”

The appointments, effective immediately, extend a run of senior hiring under Sharis that has included Liberty Mutual programs leaders Colin Sullivan and Bryan Marks, along with Aon’s Jacqueline Gariti, according to prior reporting.

Sharis previously spent nearly 15 years at Liberty Mutual, most recently as president of North America programs in its Global Risk Solutions unit. Sullivan and Marks worked with Sharis on the Liberty programs team, and their move to Emerald Bay underscores her effort to assemble a seasoned programs bench.

The appointments come as Emerald Bay seeks to expand relationships with MGAs and reinsurers.

The company, rated A-minus (Excellent) by AM Best, describes itself as a “collaborative underwriting carrier” providing both admitted and surplus lines capacity, and is backed by Bain Capital Insurance.
