Coalition Re confirms hire of TransRe’s Liu as head of underwriting

Aug 20 - (The Insurer) – San Francisco, California-based insurer Coalition has confirmed the hire of TransRe’s U.S. cyber lead Diana Liu as head of underwriting for its reinsurance MGA Coalition Re.

This publication earlier this month revealed that the company had hired Liu to the role, citing sources.

“Diana will lead our reinsurance efforts by overseeing the strategic direction and strengthening relationships with our partners, including reinsurance brokers, cedants, and capacity providers,” Coalition said in a LinkedIn post.

Liu has over a decade’s experience in financial services and had been with TransRe for nearly seven years. She served as U.S. cyber leader for the past year, after serving in senior property actuarial roles and recently working as a cyber and professional liability treaty underwriter.

Her appointment is the latest in a run of significant hires for the cyber insurtech in recent months. Coalition hired CFC's U.S. cyber practice leader Mike Phillips and Manny Cho from Risk Placement Services.

The carrier launched the cyber reinsurance MGA in September last year with capacity backing from Aspen to launch Coalition and offer non-proportional cyber treaty coverage as well as a white-label cyber product with up to 100% quota share support.
