Aug 19 - (The Insurer) - A new program launched by Alliant Insurance Services and the Mississippi Hospital Association (MHA) has already saved participating hospitals in the Magnolia State over $1 million in insurance premiums this year.
The program, which was launched in 2024, offers MHA member hospitals the ability to secure what the trade body said are “competitive property and workers' compensation insurance plans” through retail broker Alliant.
The MHA was founded in 1931 and operates as the statewide agency for health care representation and service to all hospitals and health care networks, along with the patients and communities they serve, in Mississippi.
To date, Madison, Mississippi-based MHA said over 20 of its member hospitals have taken advantage of the Alliant program.
“MHA works closely with our member hospitals to help them achieve some of the lowest costs in the nation, but rising healthcare expenses - especially for rural providers - remain a major challenge,” said MHA president and CEO Richard Roberson.
“This collaboration with Alliant connects our members to trusted experts who can often secure stronger coverage at lower premiums,” the executive explained.
According to Chad Netterville, MHA’s director of the Rural Hospital Alliance and Center for Rural Health, hospitals are using the money saved from their insurance costs by reinvesting it directly into their communities: funding raises, new hires, expanded services and equipment upgrades that patients will see and feel.
Throughout the remainder of this year and into 2026, MHA and Alliant plan to expand outreach so more hospitals utilize the program.
