Markel names Berkley's Paris product line leader for primary casualty in Canada

Aug 19 - (The Insurer) - Markel Insurance, part of Markel Group, on Tuesday appointed Alain Paris vice president and product line leader for primary casualty in Canada.

Paris will oversee the product line nationwide, working with underwriting teams to meet profit targets and support expansion, the specialty insurer said.

He joins from Berkley Canada, where he was assistant VP for middle market casualty, and brings over two decades of commercial underwriting experience, including in general liability, umbrella, excess and specialty covers.

“His proven leadership in the Canadian market and deep expertise in the casualty sector make him an exceptional addition,” said Cliff Laidlaw, senior VP of underwriting, Markel Canada.
