URGENT-India welcomes Trump-Putin meeting in Alaska, foreign ministry spokesperson says

Aug 16 (Reuters) - India welcomes the summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russia's Vladimir Putin in Alaska and appreciates the progress made in the meeting, a spokesperson for India's foreign ministry said on Saturday.
"The way forward can only be through dialogue and diplomacy. The world wants to see an early end to the conflict in Ukraine," Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India's foreign ministry said in a statement.
