EU welcomes US promise of participation in Ukraine security guarantees

BRUSSELS, Aug 14 (Reuters) - The European Commission welcomes the fact that U.S. President Donald Trump has said that the US would participate in security guarantees for Ukraine, a European Commission spokesperson said in response to reporters' questions on Thursday.
French President Emmanuel Macron told reporters on Wednesday that Trump had expressed a willingness to European leaders that the United States and other allies should be part of giving Ukraine security guarantees to end Russia's war in Ukraine.
