- (The Insurer) - The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association's actuarial and underwriting committee has recommended that the board approve a rate filing with no changes for residential and commercial 2026 policies.

The recommendation, on a five to two vote, came after the committee reviewed the 2025 rate adequacy analysis.

The analysis indicates that TWIA rates are inadequate by 3% for residential coverage and 5% for commercial coverage.

The 2025 analysis also showed a significant improvement in TWIA's longtime rate inadequacy. This is due to the passage of legislation that reduced TWIA's expected costs related to reinsurance and premium and maintenance taxes.

Last year, TWIA had proposed a 10% increase for both residential and commercial 2025 policies, which was denied by the state regulator.
