MEXICO CITY, July 14 (Reuters) - Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Monday that her government would file suit against the lawyer of Ovidio Guzman Lopez, son of drug lord "El Chapo," for defamation.
Sheinbaum has publicly sparred with the lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, as Guzman Lopez pleaded guilty in a U.S. court last week to a litany of crimes. Lichtman had said the idea Mexico should play a role in his client's plea deal was "absurd," later calling the Mexican government "corrupt."
