July 9 - (The Insurer) - Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has strengthened its marine treaty operations with the hire of former TransRe underwriter Emily Townsend, three senior marine market sources told The Insurer.
These sources said that Townsend exited TransRe earlier this year for a brief career break and will start at TMK in September.
Two senior reinsurance sources said she will report into Claire Wallace, who exited her role as Canopius' head of marine and energy treaty earlier this year to join TMK.
Wallace spent her previous three years as Canopius' marine and treaty head following almost eight years as a marine reinsurance underwriter at Atrium. She is also the chair of the Lloyd's Market Association's joint excess of loss committee, according to her Linkedin.
Townsend will join her following the concluson of five year stint at TransRe, latterly as an underwriter. Her exit has added to depatures from the reinsuer, which included Charles Monks' resignation to join Oak Re.
TMK, TransRe and Canopius declined to comment.
