June 27 - (The Insurer) - Generali has entered into a joint venture partnership with the Central Bank of India (CBI), marking a significant expansion of its presence in the Indian market, the company said on Friday.
The Italian insurance giant will maintain a 74% stake in the venture, while CBI will hold up to 26%.
Founded in 1911, CBI is one of India's oldest public sector banks, with a market capitalisation of 461 billion rupees ($5.3.9 billion) and a network of over 4,500 branches serving more than 80 million customers.
The collaboration is set to bolster Generali's brand positioning and distribution capabilities in both life and property and casualty (P&C) sectors.
