BRUSSELS, June 26 (Reuters) - German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Thursday the EU should do a "quick and simple" trade deal with the United States rather than a "slow and complicated" one.
At a summit in Brussels, EU leaders were presented with the "outline" of new proposals from the United States by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, an EU official told Reuters, but did not go into specifics.
Speaking to reporters, Merz also said von der Leyen had suggested Europeans build a new trade organisation as the World Trade Organization (WTO) struggles for relevance.
