June 17 - (The Insurer) - Hudson Insurance Group has drafted in Andy Shaw as head of general liability and excess programs, with the recruit joining the Odyssey Group subsidiary having spent the past two years at Axis.
A spokesperson for Hudson confirmed that in his new role, Shaw has responsibility for the carrier’s casualty programs and brokerage lite units.
Hudson has supported the programs market for over 25 years, with the carrier working with an array of program administrators and MGAs, some of which it has partnered with for more than a decade.
It looks to partner with program administrators focused on niche markets and/or products that differentiate it from the broader market by territory, coverage or business class, and provide capacity on both an admitted and surplus lines basis.
Shaw has moved to Hudson having spent the past two years at Axis, latterly as specialty team leader within the carrier’s North America programs unit.
Prior to Axis, Shaw was at Nationwide for 11 years, latterly as vice president for P&C programs, casualty and ocean marine within the company’s E&S programs operation.
Before joining Nationwide in 2012, Shaw was at Progressive for two years.
