- (The Insurer) - Legacy specialist Compre has appointed Rachel Bardon to the newly created role of chief underwriting officer, the company said on Thursday.

Effective September 1, Bardon will be based in Bermuda and report to Compre group CEO Will Bridger.

Bardon will be responsible for business development activities across the group, including new business origination, reinsurance underwriting, transaction execution and strategic market development.

She will also join Compre’s executive committee, as well as the board of its Bermuda-domiciled reinsurer, Pallas Reinsurance Company Limited.

Bardon joins Compre following nine years at Hudson Structured Capital Management. She most recently served as partner and chief investment officer of insurance credit, and deputy chief investment officer of reinsurance for the firm’s reinsurance activities.

Prior roles include head of actuarial and head of capital modelling at Montpelier Re.

Bridger said Bardon's "strong commercial background" will strengthen Compre’s capability as it seeks further growth in its core North American market.
