Treasury's Bessent will attend G7 with Trump, expects to meet with Carney
June 11 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Wednesday said he expects to attend the Group of 7 leaders meeting in Canada next week with President Donald Trump, and he expects the two of them will meet with new Canadian Prime Minster Mark Carney.
"The new Canadian government has made very good progress righting some mistakes made by the previous leadership. So I think we are on a more sustainable path," Bessent told the House Ways and Means Committee. "I will be traveling with President Trump to the G7 on Sunday, and I would expect that we will be meeting with Prime Minister Carney."
