Howden Re names Philipsz its head of Australia and New Zealand

June 11 - (The Insurer) - Howden Re has appointed John Philipsz as managing director, head of Australia and New Zealand, the company said on Wednesday.

In his new role, effective July 1, Philipsz will report to Andy Souter, head of Asia Pacific for Howden Re International.

He succeeds Stuart Beatty, who will scale back his role after five years leading Howden Re in Australia and New Zealand. Beatty will continue to support the business alongside Stephen Greener.

Philipsz, who brings over 25 years of experience, has joined from Lockton Advisory, where he was CEO.

He will focus on Howden Re's next phase of growth in facultative, treaty, MGA and advisory, alongside the expansion of its capital markets advisory presence.
