June 3 - (The Insurer) - Axis Capital has named Peter Smith and Tara Sapru to leadership positions in its global cyber and technology team, with Eric Seyfried, Glen Manjos and Simon Dejung departing the (re)insurer as part of the structural realignment.
Smith has been promoted to the new role of head of cyber North America. He will lead underwriting strategy and efforts to further develop the cyber solutions Axis delivers in partnership with both retail and wholesale brokers across North America.
He most recently served as GCT regional underwriting manager and head of middle market strategy, following a series of management roles at Axis. Before joining Axis in 2020, he held cyber-focused positions at Swiss Re and Marsh.
Sapru has been promoted to the new position of GCT head of technical underwriting. She most recently served as global product leader, cyber and technology E&O.
Sapru joined Axis in 2019 following 13 years at AIG, where she served as assistant general counsel and having previously held roles at Sedgwick and De Vos.
Both will report to Lori Bailey, head of global cyber and technology at Axis.
Axis said that the realignment of responsibilities and simplification of the structure within GCT has led to the loss of three senior positions within the team: head of cyber US open market, head of wholesale cyber, and cyber chief underwriting officer.
As a result, Eric Seyfried, Glen Manjos and Simon Dejung will be departing Axis.
As part of the change, Axis’ wholesale cyber team will be further integrated into the North American GCT unit, reporting directly to Smith.
