Markel UK MD Galjaard steps down, Mooney to take over

May 30 - (The Insurer) - Markel UK managing director Neil Galjaard will step down from his role and be replaced by Lee Mooney towards the end of June, the company said in a statement on Friday.
Mooney joins Markel after over 25 years at insurer RSA, where he led the UK commercial lines business.
His appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
Mooney will report to Henrik Bjornstad, managing director for national markets at Markel International.
Galjaard, who led Markel’s UK operations since 2016, oversaw a five-year strategy aimed at increasing the specialty insurer’s relevance to its distribution partners and clients in the UK regional market.
On his future, Galjaard said: “My personal plans do not see me working in a full-time capacity.”
