- Aventum Group’s specialty MGA Rokstone announced on Thursday that it has launched an international casualty division, with Convex's Sam Wylie appointed as portfolio manager.

The international casualty division will be backed by A-rated Lloyd’s capacity, Rokstone said in a statement.

Earlier this month, The Insurer exclusively reported that Rokstone had launched a UK and Ireland casualty division, led by former Convex senior underwriter Lewis Goodearl.

Rokstone subsequently appointed Convex's Matt Bishop to the UK and Ireland division, which comprises a broad portfolio of classes including employers' liability, public liability, casualty all risk and property.

With the launch of five dedicated units across the U.S., UK and Ireland, including sports and leisure event casualty, U.S. commercial risks, North America excess casualty, and the UK/Ireland division, Rokstone said it expects to generate GWP of over $850 million across these units within five years.

Wylie will be based in UK and will join Rokstone after completing his notice period at Convex, where he has spent the past five years as class underwriter in the international casualty team. Prior to that, he held senior roles at Tokio Marine Kiln and Marsh.

Commenting on the new division, Ian Anson, global CEO of Rokstone, said: “While the market is well-capitalised today, we know that long-term success in casualty requires more than just capacity. Brokers value strength in depth, underwriting discipline, and stability through the cycle.”
