- (The Insurer) - Tuckerman Underwriting has launched a general liability (GL) program for the axe throwing industry, with the new offering backed by AM Best A-plus rated capacity from Lloyd’s.

Axe throwing is a fast-growing sub-segment of the hospitality industry. The World Axe Throwing League alone has more than 300 affiliate venue members in the U.S.

Tuckerman’s new program offers coverage in all 50 states, with buyers able to secure limits of up to $1 million per claim and $2 million in the aggregate.

Based in St Charles, Illinois, Tuckerman writes an array of programs targeted at small to midsize enterprises, with the new axe throwing offering taking the number of products in its portfolio to six.

Tuckerman’s existing suite of programs includes insurance agents' and brokers' professional liability (PL), miscellaneous PL, architects' and engineers' PL, allied medical liability with GL, and sexual misconduct liability.

Tuckerman is led by managing partner Mark Chiu.

He is supported by senior vice president Kevin Ottley, vice presidents Jeremy Reese and Christie Urita, and underwriter Barbara Vasili.

Tuckerman, which also has offices in New York and California, was the third MGA to sign up to Balance Partners’ Balance Administrative Services platform.
