May 19 - (The Insurer) - Golden Bear Insurance Company has appointed former Munich Re Specialty executive Greg Hohman as chief underwriting officer, based in California.
Hohman was at Munich Re Specialty for three years, most recently serving as chief underwriting officer since September 2023. He previously spent nearly two decades at Zurich North America, culminating in his role as head of domestic casualty, national accounts.
This publication first reported in February this year that Hohman had left Munich Re Specialty.
In his new role at Golden Bear, Hohman will oversee both admitted and surplus lines underwriting across all lines of business and branch offices.
Founded in 1979, California-based Golden Bear offers commercial property and casualty, professional liability and residential earthquake insurance.
Commenting on the hire, Golden Bear president and CEO Rupert Hall said: "Greg has a proven track record of driving profitable growth and underwriting excellence."
Hohman added: "Golden Bear has a long-standing reputation for underwriting integrity, innovation, and responsiveness. I'm excited to join such a dynamic organization and help shape the next phase of its growth."
