SEOUL, May 6 (Reuters) - South Korea's Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke on the phone on Tuesday and discussed economic cooperation and the two countries' alliance, Seoul's foreign ministry said.
Cho asked for the alliance and the free trade agreement between the two countries to be recognised during the trade talks, according to a ministry statement.
He also said enough time should be taken for the trade talks, given South Korea's snap presidential election next month.
