May 2 - (The Insurer) – Stonybrook Capital & Risk Management has appointed former AM Best CEO Matt Mosher as a strategic advisor.
Mosher joins Stonybrook after nearly three decades at the ratings agency, with his last five years serving as president and CEO.
His previous roles at AM Best included executive vice president and chief operating officer, senior vice president of ratings services, CEO of AM Best America Latina and chief rating officer.
Sources with knowledge of the situation said that at Joe Scheerer-led Stonybrook, Mosher is expected to help advise the firm's clients on their ratings and strategic alternatives.
Commenting on the move, the firm's principal and CEO Scheerer said: "I am proud and honored to announce Matt's appointment. He is someone who probably could have been appointed as a strategic advisor anywhere in the industry but he chose Stonybrook."
The boutique New York-based firm specializes on the insurance and reinsurance industry and provides capital advisory and reinsurance intermediary services to clients.
Other recent moves include the appointment of former Holborn and Everest Re executive Paul Kneuer to its board of directors. Kneuer joined Stonybrook in 2020 as managing director and is a partner in the firm.
Other strategic advisors appointed by Stonybrook include reinsurance broking veteran Bill Eyre, while Lloyd's broking veteran Chris Harman joined as a partner.
