WASHINGTON, May 4 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday a 100% tariff on all movies produced outside the United States.
He said he was authorizing the U.S. Trade Representative to process the institution of the tariff because the United States' movie industry is dying "a very fast death" due to other countries offering incentives to attract filmmaker's and studios.
"This is a concerted effort by other Nations and, therefore, a National Security threat," Trump said in a post on Truth Social. "It is, in addition to everything else, messaging and propaganda!"
