April 29 - (The Insurer) – Convex’s deputy chief underwriting officer in Bermuda Sharmini Samuels has left her role with the company, six years after joining the carrier at its launch in 2019, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.
Samuels had been responsible for writing a broad range of casualty reinsurance lines out of Convex’s Bermuda office including medical malpractice, directors and officers liability, professional liability, general liability, excess and umbrella liability and commercial auto.
Before joining Convex, Samuels spent 15 years writing casualty and specialty reinsurance lines at Hiscox Re, American Safety Re and Catlin.
Bermuda-based sources said that at least one member of Samuels' casualty reinsurance team in Bermuda has also left the company.
Further details regarding the nature of Samuels’ departure and details on the executive’s possible destination could not immediately be confirmed.
A spokesperson for Convex declined to comment.
