UK's Ofcom sets July deadline for mandatory age verification

April 24 (Reuters) - British regulator Ofcom said on Thursday that services covered by the Online Safety Act which allow pornography must implement effective age assurance to stop under-18s encountering such content from July 25.
The Online Safety Act, which became law in 2023, sets tougher standards for platforms to tackle criminal activity, with an emphasis on child protection and illegal content.
