- (The Insurer) - Transportation-focused wholesaler Transatlantic Underwriters (TAU) has launched a new Bernadette Flores-led property and casualty (P&C) division, which will see it expand into six additional lines of business.

The move, described by Marietta, Georgia-based TAU as “a significant evolution,” adds commercial general and excess liability, commercial property, inland marine, builders risk and garage protections to its product suite.

Having joined TAU, Flores has been appointed senior vice president of P&C. She brings over 24 years of E&S P&C industry experience to TAU, notably within the contractors, garage, habitational and hospitality segments.

Flores, who is based in TAU’s San Francisco Bay office, has joined the company from Coastal Brokers Insurance Services.

“Since founding TAU, I've always envisioned expanding beyond our transportation specialty when the timing was right,” said Colby Waltenburg, TAU president.

“Our transportation operations are thriving, and we're now positioned to diversify our offerings to better serve existing customers and welcome new partners.

“This expansion strengthens our organization while maintaining our commitment to exceptional service in the transportation space,” Waltenburg added.

TAU launched in 1989 as a three-person operation, and the company has carved out a niche in the North American transportation sector, offering clients an array of coverages including commercial auto liability, auto physical damage and motor truck cargo.
