- (The Insurer) - Former Hannover Re CEO Jean-Jacques Henchoz will join BMS Group as chairman of the board on May 1, the broker announced on Tuesday.

Henchoz stepped down as Hannover Re CEO on March 31 following six years in the role.

His role at BMS is the second to be announced following his departure from the reinsurer.

On April 3, Brit announced that Henchoz would join the boards of Brit Group Holdings and its Lloyd’s managing agent Brit Syndicates.

Following his decision to step down in November last year, Henchoz told analysts on an investor call that he intended to build a “portfolio of activities”, including non-executive director roles and supporting charitable causes.

During Henchoz’s time in charge at Hannover Re, the reinsurer achieved an average return on equity of around 14% and its market capitalisation doubled to more than 32.4 billion euros ($35.6 billion).

Before joining Hannover Re in 2019, Henchoz was at Swiss Re for more than 20 years, including a stint as CEO of reinsurance.
