China trying to exploit dismantling of USAID in Africa, US general says
WASHINGTON, April 3 (Reuters) - China is working to exploit the dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development on the African continent, the head of U.S. forces in Africa said on Thursday.
"As we start to fold in the capabilities of USAID under (the) State Department, China's trying to exploit that," General Michael Langley, who leads U.S. Africa Command, told lawmakers.
"There's a number of programs that we see that the Chinese Communist Party is trying to replicate," Langley added.
