PARIS, April 3 (Reuters) - The introduction of tariffs on most goods imported to the United States by President Donald Trump marks a catastrophe for the world economy, French Prime Minister François Bayrou said on Thursday.
"It's an immense difficulty for Europe. I think it's also a catastrophe for the United States and for U.S. citizens," Bayrou told reporters after a meeting in the French Senate. His comments were broadcast on BFM TV.
President Emmanuel Macron will host a meeting with representatives of business sectors hit by the tariffs at the Elysee palace later in the day.
