April 3 - (The Insurer) - Specialty (re)insurer Brit has appointed former Hannover Re CEO Jean-Jacques Henchoz as a non-executive director.
Henchoz will take up the role from May 1, subject to regulatory approval. He will join the board of Brit Group Holdings and its Lloyd’s managing agent Brit Syndicates.
The role with Brit is the first addition to Henchoz’s portfolio since he stepped down as CEO of Hannover Re at the end of March following a successful six-year stint at the helm of the German reinsurer. He was succeeded by Clemens Jungsthöfel on April 1.
During Henchoz’s time in charge, Hannover Re achieved an average return on equity of around 14% and its market capitalisation doubled to more than 32.4 billion euros ($35.6 billion). Before joining Hannover Re in 2019, Henchoz was at Swiss Re for more than 20 years, including a stint as CEO of reinsurance.
Following his decision to step down in November last year, Henchoz told analysts on an investor call that he intended to build a “portfolio of activities”, including non-executive director roles and supporting charitable causes.
