RPT-Trump says Americans should not move up auto purchases to avoid tariffs

WASHINGTON, March 28 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that he did not think it made sense for Americans to buy cars now to avoid the effects of tariffs that are set to go into effect in early April.
"I don't think so," Trump told reporters at the White House, when asked if Americans should move up auto purchases. "I think you're going to have a country that's going to boom."
