Arch Insurance grows Iberian casualty team with QBE, Howden hires

March 12 - (The Insurer) - Arch Insurance has bolstered its European casualty offering with the appointment of Carmen Cobeta as head of casualty, Spain and Irene Fernandez Franic as senior casualty underwriter.

Based in Madrid, the duo will be responsible for Arch Insurance (EU)'s casualty portfolio in Spain and Portugal, which underwrites primary, umbrella and excess liability cover across a range of sectors, including industrial, manufacturing and retail.

Cobeta joins Arch following eight years at QBE, most recently serving as regional broker relationships manager at QBE Europe. Other previous roles include liability portfolio manager and senior casualty underwriter.

Fernandez Franic most recently served as head of international construction at Howden, a role she assumed in July last year. Prior to that, she was director of construction and energy at Aon in Madrid.
