Germany's Greens: will consider debt brake reform plan

BERLIN, March 4 (Reuters) - A senior official of Germany's Greens party said on Tuesday they would carefully look into proposals by the conservatives and Social Democrats to overhaul constitutional borrowing limits.

"What is important to us is a long-term solution to the fundamental rules of the debt brake and that investments in infrastructure, the economy and climate are addressed sustainably alongside the issue of security", senior lawmaker Britta Hasselmann said in a statement.

Conservatives and their potential centre-left SPD partners need the Greens in parliament to reach the two thirds majority needed to reform Germany's so-called debt brake.
