QBE names Stanser to head distribution in European markets drive

March 4 - (The Insurer) - QBE named Maths Stanser as head of distribution for European markets, as part of the commercial insurer's aim to take on more risk lead positions in the region.
Stockholm-based Stanser joined QBE in 2018 as general manager for the Nordics, working across Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway.
Stanser will be responsible for leading broker engagement and designing the distribution proposition in his new role, which will also span France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. He succeeds Fabian Desch, who was appointed general manager of QBE Germany in August.
During Stanser's time as general manager of QBE Nordics, it quadrupled in premium size, with headcount also rising from 18 to 47 people across Sweden and Denmark.
QBE said in a statement that Stanser will retain the position of general manager for the Swedish and Danish branches until it finds a replacement.
Stanser will report to Andy Besant, chief customer officer at QBE European Operations.
