Feb 27 - (The Insurer) - A shooting in Lake Oswego on the morning of February 21 appears to have targeted the home of Chip Terhune, CEO of the SAIF Corporation, the state’s workers compensation insurance company.
The incident occurred early Friday morning on Melrose Place.
Authorities have stated that an unknown suspect fired several rounds into the home from close range before fleeing the scene on foot.
There were no injuries, and only minor damage to the property was reported.
“We are aware of the incident at our president and CEO’s home. We don’t have further details at this time but are working closely with law enforcement,” an SAIF spokesperson told The Insurer.
Lake Oswego Police have publicly announced that they believe the shooting at the CEO’s residence was “a targeted incident” and noted that they “do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community".
The police are urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area during that time to come forward.
This incident marks the second in recent months involving the targeting of an insurance CEO. The first occurred in December 2024, when Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealth's insurance unit, was fatally shot in what police have described as a targeted attack.
