ABI names Phoenix's Briggs to succeed Bailey as president

- (The Insurer) - The Association of British Insurers has appointed Phoenix Group's Andy Briggs as president for a two-year term.

He succeeds Tim Bailey, Zurich's newly appointed CEO for global life protection, who has served as ABI president since 2023.

Ken Norgrove, UK and international CEO at RSA Insurance, will continue as deputy president.

Briggs currently serves as CEO of Phoenix Group, a role he has held for five years. Prior to that, he was CEO of UK insurance and global life and health at Aviva.

In addition, three new ABI board members have been appointed, including Drazen Jaksic, who recently succeeded Bailey as CEO of Zurich UK.

Jaksic is joined on the ABI board by Admiral CEO Alistair Hargreaves and Bupa Insurance UK CEO Chris Carroll, who replace Cristina Nestares and Alex Perry, respectively.
