Feb 21 - (The Insurer) - Starpeak Insurance Solutions’ Protectivity unit has launched a new liability-led program targeted at UK-based catering companies.
The new program enables catering professionals to protect their equipment, trailers and livelihood in one tailored policy.
Protectivity’s new offering can be accessed online, through what the company said is a streamlined purchasing process.
“This catering insurance policy sets a new standard by incorporating trailer cover, protecting against theft, damage, and unforeseen disruptions,” said Starpeak.
“In addition to public and products liability, the policy includes stock cover and other essential protection tailored to the needs of mobile caterers,” the company added.
It is not known precisely who is providing the underwriting capacity supporting the program. However, according to Protectivity’s website, its coverages are underwritten by companies including Axa XL, Convex, Financial & Legal and NPA Insurance’s Peach, while it also works with MGAM.
Protectivity underwriting manager Chris Trotman noted that the catering industry is very competitive, and can require considerable investment, especially when caterers use their specialist equipment remotely.
“With so much high value equipment within a kitchen on wheels, it can be a daunting thought should the worst happen, and your items become damaged or subject to theft.
“This is where our cover comes in, we have worked closely with our insurance partners to come up with a product that alleviates that concern and provides you confidence to focus on catering for your customers,” he said.
Based in Stokenchurch, England, Starpeak is a digital MGA that provides coverage to both consumers and micro/SME customers.
It currently provides coverage to over 68,000 SMEs annually across the UK, with annual policy sales reaching 135,000.
The company was originally founded in 1991 as SportsCover Direct. It then rebranded to Starpeak in 2023 to reflect its broader and more diverse product offering.
Starpeak’s consumer and business-facing brands include SportsCover Direct, which specialises in consumer sports and sports travel insurance, and Protectivity, focused on commercial, leisure and lifestyle coverages.
