EU trade chief to travel to Washington on Monday for tariff talks

BRUSSELS, Feb 15 (Reuters) - European Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic will travel to Washington on Monday, said the European Commission, for meetings with U.S. counterparts expected to focus on threatened U.S. tariffs.

U.S. President Donald Trump is planning to impose tariffs of 25% on all steel and aluminium imports from March 12 and "reciprocal" tariffs in April. The latter could hit EU car exports to the United States.

Sefcovic, who had a first telephone call with U.S. counterparts earlier this week, is due to speak at the American Enterprise Institute think tank on Wednesday.
