EU ready to respond 'firmly' to US tariff threats, French finance minister says

PARIS, Feb 10 (Reuters) - The European Union is prepared to respond to any tariff threats from the United States with similar moves if necessary, French Finance Minister Eric Lombard told Bloomberg TV on Monday.
"President (Donald) Trump is a dealmaker, so Europe will answer as strongly as the position of the United States," Lombard said on the sidelines of an artificial intelligence summit in Paris.
"We are prepared to do whatever is necessary in order to be balanced, we have the same tools, we have the same weapons if need be, and we will use them very firmly," he added.
