China, on US fentanyl concerns, says threatening China 'not the right way'

ReutersFeb 5, 2025 8:32 AM

- China's foreign ministry, in response to U.S. concerns about fentanyl, said on Wednesday that suppressing and threatening China is "not the right way" to interact with China.

The fundamental way to solve the fentanyl crisis is reducing demand for drugs at home and enhancing law enforcement cooperation, a ministry spokesperson said at a regular press briefing.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday ordered 10% tariffs on goods imported from China, saying Beijing needed to stanch the flow of fentanyl into the United States.
