- Poland signed a contract with the United States on Tuesday to buy over 200 AGM-88G advanced anti-radiation missiles for around $745 million, the Polish defence ministry said, as it modernises its army to face a potential threat from Russia.

The delivery of the missiles will be carried out from 2029 to 2035. They are designed to be used in F-35 fighters which are due to start arriving in Poland in 2026 and have a range of over 200 kilometres (124 miles).

"We are investing in modern equipment. AGM-88G AARGM-ER missiles are capabilities that Poland needs. This is a very large purchase for our army," Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz was quoted as saying on social media platform X.

"A large modernisation program of our army is underway. Today's agreement marks a huge progress in the field of operational capabilities of our army, including the Air Force."
