Dollar drops sharply against yen

Jan 23 (Reuters) - The dollar dropped sharply against the yen, last down 1.14% at 156.6, in a volatile trading session after the Bank of Japan held rates steady.
Earlier in the day, the yen weakened to as soft as 159.2 per dollar, close to 18-month lows.
