- Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said on Wednesday that it was important for currencies to reflect fundamentals and that the government remained prepared to take appropriate action against "excessive and disorderly moves" if necessary.

She was speaking in parliament in response to an opposition party member's question regarding the stubbornly weak yen despite the outlook for diverging U.S. and Japanese interest rates.
