
SAO PAULO, Dec 5 (Reuters) - Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has signaled he intends to support his eldest son, Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, as a presidential candidate in the 2026 election, broadcaster CNN Brasil reported on Friday.
According to CNN Brasil, which cited unnamed sources close to the Bolsonaro family, the right-wing leader told his eldest son of his plans during a visit to the federal police offices in Brasilia where he is serving his sentence for plotting a coup.
The reporting on Bolsonaro's plans hit Brazilian markets on Friday, with the country's currency weakening more than 1.5% against the U.S. dollar BRBY and the benchmark stock index Bovespa .BVSP down 1.8%.
