LIMA, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Peru's President Jose Jeri told a business forum on Tuesday he expected the Andean nation's economy to expand 3.5% this year, up from the 3.3% registered last year, and pledged to hand over orderly public finances to the next government in 2026.
Jeri also said he is preparing a "de-bureaucratization shock" aimed at cutting red tape and unlocking public and private investment projects, mainly in infrastructure, "without affecting government revenue."
"This is a transitional government, but it is not a stagnant government," the president said in a speech at the Annual Conference of Executives (CADE) in a residential district of Lima.
Jeri took office on Oct. 10 following the impeachment of former President Dina Boluarte, who was removed by Congress for "moral incapacity" less than six months before general elections scheduled for April 12 next year.
The interim president said he would guarantee a transparent electoral process to choose a new leader next April and urged an end to "sterile confrontation" in the South American country.
