TOKYO, Oct 24 (Reuters) - Japan's new finance minister, Satsuki Katayama, said on Friday that she is scheduled to talk with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent over phone.
"It is customary for the person in this position to make the first phone call to the U.S. Treasury Secretary among finance ministers of the major G7 countries," she said at a news conference.
She also said it may be possible to meet him in person when he visits Tokyo next week, but declined to comment further.
