Bessent discussed trade, currency issues with Japanese counterpart at G7
May 21 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent discussed trade and currency issues on Wednesday when he met with Japanese Finance Minister Katsunobu Kato on the sidelines of the G7 finance ministers meeting, the Treasury Department said.
The pair reaffirmed their shared belief that exchange rates should be market determined and that, at present, the dollar-yen exchange rate reflects fundamentals, according to the department.
